Learn how achieving the Investing in Volunteers Award can create enabling environments for attractive and sustainable volunteering.

Aim

Your volunteers of today and tomorrow are key contributors to delivering on your organisation’s vision. By investing in your vision for volunteering, building high quality volunteer programmes and processes, the ability to recruit volunteers and maintain volunteer relationships over the long term can be drastically improved.

Content

This two-part session will cover everything you need to know to decide if the Investing in Volunteers Award is right for your organisation.

In part one, organisations will learn about the principles of Investing in Volunteers, the value that awarding organisations achieve through the journey and be clear on what the next steps are to starting their Investing in Volunteers journey.

In part two, organisations that are already involving volunteers from the age of 11 – 25 years (or those that would like to) are invited to learn about how the Investing in Volunteers Award adds value specifically to the volunteering experience for young people.

Learning Outcomes

Part one will run from 10 – 11am and by attending you will,

  • Understand the principles of the UK Investing in Volunteers quality standard
  • Understand the value that awarding organisations achieve by going through the Investing in Volunteers journey
  • Be able to determine if the standard is right for your organisation at this time
  • Be clear on the next step for your organisation on your Investing in Volunteers journey

Part one will be delivered by Sandra Adair, Manager of UK Investing in Volunteers

Part two will run from 11.15 – 12.15pm and by attending you will,

  • Understand the principles of what good looks like in a youth volunteer experience
  • Understand how Investing in Volunteers can enable organisations to improve and demonstrate the value of their volunteer journey for young people
  • Learn about a range of resources that can support organisations that would like to involve young people as volunteers

Part two will be delivered by Felicitie Walls, Volunteering Manager at WCVA and passionate advocate for youth volunteering.
