The Thompson Family Charitable Trust is a discretionary family-based grant-making charity operating out of offices in London. The Trust has the general charitable objective of making grants and donations to charitable bodies or for charitable purposes. Its aggregate donations since it was founded in 1985 is approximately £103 million.

During the year ended 31st January 2023, the Trust awarded grants totalling £14,330,000 (2022: £8,866,500), although this figure included a single grant of £7.5 million to Cambridge Children’s Hospital/Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust.

Grants made ranged from £1,000 to six-figure amounts and included grants to charities working in the areas of:

o Animal welfare.
o Arts.
o Children and young people.
o Disability.
o Food poverty/food banks.
o Health.
o Hospices, 
and
o Sport.

The Trustees meet as regularly as is necessary to assess grant applications. Applications for donations are invited from all categories of UK registered charity. Applications – which may be made at any time – should be in writing in the first instance, and sent to the Trust at the following address:
