The Not Pointless Charity is a modest grant-making Trust that raises funds through the annual Glastonbury Festival. Funds are then allocated in the form of grants to “improve educational opportunities and advance the education of children and adults in the UK and worldwide by supporting health, social justice and other projects”.

The Glastonbury Festival uses around 265 volunteer stewards each working approximately 20 hours, for which festival organiser Michael Eavis donates £5 per hour to Not Pointless.

Grants, can range from relatively small amounts of as low as £100 to around £5,000. Preferred areas of support are charities working in the areas of:

o Children’s welfare
o Education.
o Health.
o Social justice, 
and
o Overseas projects.

The charity’s last published annual accounts were for the year ended 31 March 2018. During the year, the Charity awarded grants totalling £18,550. Grants were made to 14 charities and ranged from £250 to £7,000. The average grant was for £1,325.

The total charitable income and expenditure over the last 5 years of the charity was:

o Year ended 31st March 2024: Income £20,090; Expenditure: £23,160.
o Year ended 31st March 2023: Income £19,990; Expenditure: £11,210.
o Year ended 31st March 2022: N/A – there was no Glastonbury Festival in 2021 due to COVID.
o Year ended 31st March 2021: N/A – there was no Festival in 2020 due to COVID.
o Year ended 31st March 2020: Income £22,950; Expenditure: £27,550.
