Small grants, nominally up to £5,000 but more commonly for £1,000, are available to UK registered charities working in the UK and/or overseas in a range of fields, particularly those supporting children.

o Who can apply: UK registered charities working in the UK or overseas. Individuals are also occasionally awarded a grant. The Trust tends to be particularly sympathetic to charities supporting children, as well as charities located within Lincolnshire and Jersey in the Channel Islands.

The Michael Cornish Charitable Trust supports UK registered charities working in the UK and/or overseas, albeit with a preference for funding children’s charities and charities in Lincolnshire and Jersey in the Channel islands.

In the past the Trust has awarded grants to charities working in the following areas:

o Amateur Sport.
o Children and Young People.
o Community and economic Development.
o People with a disability.
o The advancement of Health or Saving of Lives, and
o General Charitable Purposes.

Grants can be up to £5,000 but are more commonly for £1,000 or less. During the year ended 31st December 2022, the Trust awarded 65 grants totalling £160,250, categorised as follows:

o Charities: £89,000 (2021: £70,250; 2020: £57,000).
o Individuals: £6,250 (2021: £250; 2020: £1,750), and
o Charities working overseas: £71,000 (2021: £35,000; 2020: £6.000).

Applications are reviewed quarterly in March, June, September and December. The next application deadline is Friday 20th September 2024.
