Minehead, Somerset-based charity, the Dorothy Whitney Elmhirst Trust was founded by William Knight Elmhirst and Heather Anne Elmhirst to pursue charitable objectives and purposes in any part of the world.
The Trust’s areas of interest, as listed on the Charity Commission for England and Wales website are:
o Arts, culture, heritage and science.
o Education and training.
o Environment and conservation, and
o Overseas aid and famine relief.
During the year ended 31st December 2023, the Trust awarded 11 grants totalling £91,700. Grants made ranged from £1,000 to £30,000 (to Healing Waves, a charity providing ocean therapy sessions for individuals living in the Channel Islands).
The Trust’s pattern of awards suggests some preference for charities in West Somerset and Jersey in the Channel Islands.
