THE BRITISH MOTOR SPORTS TRAINING TRUST
Grants ranging from under £1,000 to £20,000 are available to registered charities and voluntary organisations in the UK, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands for education and training, particularly of volunteer officials, and to provide other grants to further improve safety in the sport of motor racing.

The objects of the British Motor Sports Training Trust (recently rebranded as the British Motorsport Trust) are to provide funds for education and training particularly of volunteer officials, and to provide other grants to further improve safety in the sport of motor racing, including the best practice use of relevant equipment in order to prevent and reduce the incidence and gravity of accidents in motor sport generally
The British Motorsport Trust allocate grants to various projects that fit underneath one of the charity’s two core programmes: the Volunteers and Marshals Training Programme and the Safety Development Fund programme.
1. Safety Development Fund Programme
Grants are available to support additional or enhanced safety improvements which comply with Motorsport UK requirements or regulations. In a typical year around 60 grant applications are approved with in excess of £150,000 awarded, which through partnership funding brings a total safety benefit to the sport approaching £500,000 each year.
The Safety Development Fund provides grant aid to support the purchase, refurbishing and replacement of Rescue and Recovery Units and their specified equipment to ensure the highest standards of safety are maintained in the sport.
2. Volunteers and Marshals Training Day Programme
Grants are available to support training for volunteer marshals and officials who are members of recognised motor clubs and affiliated organisations. The training must be delivered through a network of Motorsport UK Licensed Training Instructors who run training according to identified need across the UK and its islands annually under the Motorsport UK Training Day Programme. In a typical year the BMSTT makes around 130 awards in this category, representing total grant aid in excess of £200,000.
