About the session

This session will explore the presentation of autism in girls, highlighting their unique strengths and challenges. It will cover the importance of early identification, the critical adolescent years, and potential health and social outcomes. Participants will gain insights into how to recognise and support autistic girls as parents or carers, while also learning essential self-care strategies.

About the presenter

Dr. Nicky Heady, a mother of two autistic daughters, has spent 10 years researching autism and other neurodivergent conditions. She has published papers, written blogs, and supported families. She welcomes the opportunity to share her personal and academic experiences, She strongly advocates for sharing knowledge, and believes understanding, awareness, and empathy are key to supporting autistic girls.
