Introduction to Handling Issues of Suicide and Self Harm in Children and Young People

Applicable to all people who work with children and young people.

Learning Objectives

After this course, learners will be able to;

  • Recognise what constitutes self-harm
  • Recognise the differences between suicidal and self harming behaviour and potential links between the two
  • Describe the risk factors for suicide and self harm amongst children and young people
  • Describe helpful responses when dealing with a child or young person’ self harming or suicidal behaviour
  • Demonstrate active listening skills
  • Demonstrate confidence to manage disclosures and take appropriate next steps

Training will be delivered by Neil Bovingdon and Gail Morris from CAMHS.

There are x24 spaces available which will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

We have two separate dates available
