Community Facilities Programme

Over £4.3 million for community projects in Wales

A church in Swansea, a football club in Denbighshire and volunteer centre in Powys are among the 38 projects to receive a share of more than £4.3million support from the Welsh Government.

The funding is being provided through the Community Facilities Programme, a capital grant scheme, operated by the Welsh Government which helps voluntary sector organisations make improvements to community facilities such as sports clubs and community halls for the benefit of the people they serve.

Other projects which have also received funding include £300,000 toward the development of a Homeless Hub on Anglesey, £95,000 for refurbishment works at Denbigh Town Football Club, and £100,000 toward a new building in Caerphilly for Community Volunteers Wales.

The Community Facilities Programme is currently open for applications. Grants are available at two levels; small grants of under £25,000 and larger grants of up to £300,000. Grants can be used to improve community facilities which are useful to, and well used by, people in the community.

The Programme is open to community and voluntary sector organisations, including social enterprises. The focus of the programme is on increasing opportunity, creating prosperity for all and developing resilient communities where people are engaged and empowered. All applicants are expected to be working with partners which can come from the public, private or the third sectors.
