Citizens Advice Powys – A look back at 2024

Citizens Advice Powys reflects on another busy year, responding to the ongoing financial crisis and the increasing demand for its services. Throughout 2024, the organisation provided impartial and trusted advice to a diverse range of people, particularly those facing disadvantage, detriment, or harm.

Impact in 2024

Since January, Citizens Advice Powys has supported over 4,100 residents with:

  • 24,000 advice issues addressed.
  • £978,000 of problem debt written off.
  • £3.4 million of income secured for households.
  • £4.1 million in debt negotiated.

Each client typically presents with six different advice issues. The advice provided has had a meaningful impact, helping to build financial resilience, tackle poverty, and improve health and well-being.

The Difference It Makes

  • 89% of clients said they would NOT have resolved their problem without help.
  • 76% felt less stressed, depressed, or anxious after receiving advice.
  • 57% reported improved physical health.

Working Together

Collaboration has been vital. Citizens Advice Powys worked with over 40 support partners this year, including Powys County Council and other statutory and third sector organisations. These partnerships extended their reach into communities, helping over 600 individuals tackle local challenges.

Citizens Advice Powys thanks all their partners and supporters for their continued collaboration in 2024. They look forward to another year of working together to prevent problems, reduce their impacts, and improve lives across Powys in 2025.
