Age Cymru Powys’ Winter Newsletter is here!

This winter, Age Cymru Powys is dedicated to spreading warmth and support across the community, understanding that many may face significant challenges during the colder months. Recent changes to the Winter Fuel Payment and the ongoing Cost-of-Living Crisis have left many concerned about keeping homes warm and managing household expenses.

The latest newsletter outlines a range of services available to support older residents of Powys. Age Cymru Powys is committed to helping residents access benefits, grants, energy-saving measures, food banks, and community warm hubs. Rather than facing these concerns alone, older adults are encouraged to connect with Age Cymru Powys for trusted support.

For those needing practical assistance, their handyperson, Steve, offers free home visits to assess heating needs, install energy-saving equipment, and provide advice on lowering fuel bills. All services are free, impartial, and meet the Advice Quality Standard (AQS), a mark of quality for organizations providing social welfare guidance.

The skilled Advice Team, known as the A-Team, is available to answer questions and offer support tailored to individual circumstances. For an example of the help available, see Huw’s story from Machynlleth on page 15 of the newsletter, and learn more about Age Cymru Powys’s commitment to quality on page 14.
