About Powys Volunteer Centre
Powys Volunteer Centre is the gateway to volunteering. We work with individuals, voluntary organisations, community groups and public sector organisations to promote voluntary work and to support individuals to find volunteer placements that suit their needs.
Every year we celebrate and thank outstanding volunteers at the Powys Volunteer of the Year Awards.

What is a volunteer?
A volunteer is a person doing an activity which helps other people (other than your family) and is unpaid
(although volunteers can get their travel paid for and other approved out-of-pocket expenses).
Volunteers can:
- drive vehicles for community transport schemes
- run sports clubs
- run play activities for children
- do environmental work outside
- help in a charity shop
- or be a trustee of an organisation.
The list of activities is endless. Volunteering can take place from the home, in the community or overseas.

Amser i Ni
Exchanging Time - Exchanging Skills: Enabling Communities
Amser i Ni is a transactional volunteering project based around time banking.
It seeks to develop the resilience of communities by building mutual support networks in which everyone has something to offer and something to gain.
It has the potential to be so much more than a reward system for volunteering, it might just provide the foundation for a whole new way of working together.
Hospital Support Volunteers
Would you like to volunteer in a hospital setting? Are you a team player, with good communication skills and compassion? You could be a hospital support volunteer!
