Our History
We are proud to have been working to support Powys for nearly 25 years.
In 1974 Powys Rural Council was created from the three independent Rural Community Councils of Montgomeryshire, Radnorshire and Brecknockshire. Powys Rural Council became PAVO in 1994, changing its name to Powys Association of Voluntary Organisations.

Our PAVO Team
PAVO is a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee. It is governed by a board of trustees / directors. Up to 9 trustees are elected by PAVO members at the Annual General Meeting. The board has powers to co-opt and to create ex-officio board members.

Third Sector Support Wales.
PAVO is part of the Third Sector Support Wales, a network of support organisations for the whole of the third sector in Wales. It consists of the 19 local and regional County Voluntary Councils (PAVO is a County Voluntary Council) and the national support body, Wales Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA).
As Third Sector Support Wales, we work with people, volunteers and third sector groups to identify and address what matters to them. To achieve our shared goals, we collaborate with other key partners across the third sector, the public sector, business, research and funders.

Ready to join?
PAVO is a membership organisation. Membership is open to all third sector organisations and groups and Town and Community Councils in Powys, all working to meet the needs of people and communities across Powys. We have over 800 member organisations and regular contact with over 1500 organisations.
