__________
The Garrick Charitable Trust aims to encourage theatre, music, literature and dance, with a particular focus on helping professional organisations in need of financial support, and – more specifically – to nurture actors, directors, writers, musicians, composers and choreographers in the early stages of their careers.
Grants are normally in the range of £2,500-£5,000 and may sometimes be granted for more than one year. Organisations that are awarded a grant are asked to wait 3 years before reapplying.
Applicants need to show that the amount of money requested will make a real difference to their organisation’s future, for example by raising the standard of performance or achieving larger audiences.
Applying organisations must be a registered UK charity. As the trust explicitly supports proposals which help professionals to develop their careers and this should ideally include an element of genuine and significant mentoring or coaching. It prefers projects where its modest contribution can make a real difference.
During the year ended 31st December 2023, the Trust awarded 101 grants totalling £270,350 (2022: £266,000). Awards were categorised as follows:

o Literature: 17 grants totalling £34,500.
o Music: 38 grants totalling £110,400.
o Theatre: 37 grants totalling 103,700.

The next deadline for applications is Friday 16th May 2025. Any applications that are received after this date will be held over to the next meeting.
