The Miss Kathleen Beryl Sleigh Charitable Trust is derived from the estate of Kathleen Beryl Sleigh, who died 8 August 1998. Miss Sleigh owned the mineral rights in part of the Cauldon Low Limestone Quarry, Staffordshire and these are the main source of income and of funds for the Charitable Trust.

The Trustees hold the funds upon Trust for exclusively charitable objects and general charitable purposes in any part of the world as they see fit, although most grants are made for registered charities working in the UK.

The Trustees consider applications from UK charities and voluntary bodies. They also aim to assist the elderly, children and young people, people with disabilities (particularly loss of sight) and musical/ cultural organisations.

During the year ended 5 April 2023, the Trust awarded 42 grants totalling £456,500 (2022: 28 grants totalling £202,000).

Grants awarded ranged from £2,500 to £20,000 and comprised a mixture of repeat and new grant recipients. A number of national charities were supported, augmented by the occasional more local cause.

A list of all agencies awarded a grant can be found on pages 7 and 8 of the Trust’s annual accounts.

Please note that the Trust does not have a website. Further information is, however, available on the Charity Commission website.
