Free Period Products
Funded by the Welsh Government, Powys County Council are working to promote period dignity.
Powys have been awarded Welsh Government funding for 2024/25 to provide free period products to women and girls within our community. As part of the funding award we are required to reach under-served communities. As the funding available is limited, these groups will be those first offered the opportunity to receive free period product packs from our supplier ‘Hey Girls’. As has been done previously the packs can be requested using an online form. Please see flyers attached and the following link – Free Period Products – Powys County Council
Welsh Government describes under-served communities as including Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities, Gypsies, Roma and Travellers, Asylum seekers and refugees, disabled people and LGBTQ+.
We are also looking to reach Food Bank users, those accessing domestic violence services and low-income families. Please can you use your links and connections to target those included in these group to access the products available.
Period products are available to school pupils via the school office or designated staff member in all schools. In secondaries there is also the option of coin-free vending machines. To find out more about the period dignity support for pupils in school contact education@powys.gov.uk
