THE ROGER AND SARAH BANCROFT CLARK CHARITABLE TRUST
A limited number of small grants, usually for under £1,500, are available to registered charities working in the fields of religion (particularly Quaker causes) and education. Charities working in Somerset are favoured, although this is not exclusive.

Street, Somerset-based, the Roger and Sarah Bancroft Clark Charitable Trust makes grants to charitable organisations including those working in the fields of:
o Quaker causes.
o Heritage.
o Social Relief, and
o Educational Establishments for Post Graduate education (the Trust no longer accepts applications directly from individuals for general financial hardship or educational purposes.)
The Charity invites applications for grants from the public and the Trustees meet regularly to decide which applications to support. In the past grants have been made to Religious Society of Friends and associated bodies, charities connected with Somerset and education. However, the Trustees will consider other applications for funding.
During the year ended 31st December 2022, the Trust awarded a total of 47 grants totalling £594,454 (2021: 25 grants totalling £4,285,006). This included a single grant of £500,854 (2021: £4,252,006) to the Alfred Gillett Trust, a charity dedicated to telling the story of the development of Street as a company village with nearly 200 years of shoemaking heritage.
The remaining grants made by the Roger and Sarah Bancroft Clark Charitable Trust were generally for £1,500 or less. These were categorised as follows:
o Religious grants: 8 grants totalling £3,177 (2021: 7 grants totalling £5,710).
o Educational grants: 7 grants totalling £2,779 (2021: 3 grants totalling £2,447).
o Somerset grants: 8 grants totalling £3,177 (2021: 4 grants totalling £3,253).
o Other grants: 23 grants totalling £9,133 (2021: 10 grants totalling £8,157.
o Restricted grant recipients: 1 grant totalling £3,547 (2021: 1 grant totalling £3,956).
